Parent's Testimonial - Janine Grant

The summer camp at the Boys & Girls Club was a great experience for my son. He had a great time meeting new people, learning new games and he looked forward to going every morning.

During Summer Survivor Camp: water balloon fight, went to Chippewa, challenges, Teddy Bears Picnic, immunity challenges, swimming, pizza lunch & played games.

This experience gained him personal growth and developed new relationships with the kids and staff as role models in a fun, supportive and interactive environment.

As a parent, it was awesome to see how eager he was to get there every morning and come home so dog tired. The agency also provided great links with other community services.

Parent's Testimonial - Sherri Locke
I survived another March Break! Not only did I survive, I actually enjoyed it this time around! I enjoyed it and my daughter enjoyed it. We found the perfect fit for our needs and wants with the week long activity program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay. We discovered what the Boys & Girls Club had to offer during the Christmas Break, and found there was so much variety, that we just had to go back. I delivered my daughter to the Club each morning before 9, knowing that she would be well supervised, entertained, educated and challenged. After my long day at work, I returned to retrieve her and hear of all of her activities, exploits, new found friends and above all else, her excitement knowing that she would be going back the next day to enjoy another round of new activities and adventures. This year was  a stark contrast to our last March Break when I had booked a few days with a sitter and a few days at another community program. The sitter left me with a sink full of dishes, an empty snack cupboard and a child wanting to get outside to do somehting, anything! This year, my sink is how I left it in the morning, my snack cupboard was missing only what I had packed in the daily lunch (if she needed one that day), and my contented child... well, that say's it all - my contented child. What family doesn't want a contented child.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay certainly fit the bill for what we were looking for. Now I am patiently awaiting the announcement of the Summer Program, so I can put aside my summer "sitter" conerns.
Thanks Lee-Ann S, Bill Doug, Whitney, Karen, Leanne M, Dave and all the volunteers for a great week and the consistenly great work you do with the kids you consider "yours".

As a parent, the Boys and Girls club is a blessing .  My son has been attending the Boys and Girls club for a few years now and he looks forward to going.  When I pick him up after work he has stories on what they did that day and what their plans are for tomorrow.  The staff are great! They get to know the children (their likes and dislikes) and they encouraged my son to try new things (snowboarding) and not to give.  The staff takes the time to talk to the parents as well.  For any parent that wants their child to stay active through the holidays the Boys and Girls club is the place to send them.  I am glad I did.

(summer program)
The new summer program at the Boys & Girls Club is fantastic! We have two children who have been coming for 3 years now; I can say by far this has been one of the best years ever. The changes they have made to the Summer Program have been great. The best one was giving the children matching t-shirts to make it easier for staff to watch them on an outing. Another change was capping the amount of kids that came each week. Not only was this beneficial to the staff, it is also for the well being of the children by not letting the quieter ones feel out of place. Summer Program let my kids be part of the team, from doing dish duty at camp to hanging out with their friends, which by the way, has led to some dish duty at home (haha). It truly has made them happy well rounded kids, not to mention tired at the end of the day! A big thanks goes out to all the staff responsible for taking care of our children, knowing they are at the Club and busy makes it a little easier to go to work in the summer.
